The air fryer hacks that turn bread into sweet treats and quick snacks perfect for the kids this half term | The Sun

IT’S half term and when the schools are closed it can be a challenge to keep everyone fed and entertained. So why not have a bake off?

If you’ve got hungry mouths to feed this half term and you’re on a budget, just a loaf of bread and these quick and easy air fryer hacks by TikToker @FitWaffle will work wonders.

Nutella Toast Pies

If your kids love a chocolatey treat, they’ll love these. Plus they’re super easy to make.

Author Eloise Head @FitWaffle shares her quick air fryer hack using just a few slices of bread, Nutella and egg yoke for ingredients.

Now I know most mums nag their little ones to eat their crusts but they’re allowed to cut them away for this exercise.

In her TikTok clip Eloise takes up a crustless slice of bread, and pushes the centre down with her thumbs to form a dip where the Nutella can be filled.

Once complete she then gives the borders a brush of egg wash so that the edges will stick together. The slice of chocolate filled bread is folded and edges sealed with a fork.

One last stroke of remaining egg wash before it’s popped into the air fryer for 5 minutes and bingo, your bread is transformed into a mouth watering Nutella Toast pie.

Why not try out different fillings across the week for endless fun and flavour.

French Toast Sticks

Now these might look like something only a baker could pull off but your little bakers wouldn’t even break a sweat making these.

WORK IT OUT

Gym-goer leaves people stunned as she turned up to exercise ‘without trousers’

In another post by @FitWaffle she creates french toast sticks which make for perfect dippers at dessert time and they're really easy to replicate.

The TikToker slices a loaf of brioche bread into batons and whisks up one egg, 80ml of milk and a teaspoon of vanilla.

After dunking each baton in the mix, spray them in oil and pop them in the air fryer for 8 minutes.

Once it pings, coat your toasty sticks in sugar and cinnamon to enjoy the sugar rush!

Cheesy Pizza Rolls

As well as the sweet treats this TikTok foodie delivers on the savoury snacks as well.

So if the kids are peckish why not keep them entertained by letting them make their own pizza rolls with some toppings of their choice.

All you have to do is cut away the crusts, roll flat with a rolling pin and top it with pizza sauce and any topping of your choice.

In her clip @fitwaffle used pepperoni slices and grated cheese.

Roll up your slices and dip them in a mix of egg, milk and oregano for flavour and they’re ready for the air fryer. Eight minutes later your pizza rolls are crying out to be devoured.

Croque Monsieur Toastie Dippers

Now if you have any bread left in your loaf by the end of the week why not balance the screen time by letting the kids transform their boring ham sandwiches into delicious toastie dippers.

This TikTok has to be the easiest hack of them all.

In the clip you will see @fitwaffle make a ham and cheese sandwich. She then cuts the sandwich into dippers and coasts each in an eggy batter before toasting to perfection.

It really is that simple.
