We renovated our garage with Ikea, Target, and Amazon buys – it helped to banish an 'unrealistic' expectation | The Sun

A DIY whizz shared how she renovated her garage using Target and Ikea buys.

She encouraged people to take projects at their own pace to banish an "unrealistic" completion timeline.

Mari (@simply_marisol) shared the garage transformation in a video with her TikTok followers.

She explained that her small business has grown immensely and she needed to revamp her garage space to better suit her needs.

Although the project took much longer than expected, she was more than okay with that.

"There are some DIY-ers who can finish a project in three days, this literally took me a few months," she said.

Although the renovation took quite a bit of time, Mari explained that she wanted to get it right the first time.

"I have so much stuff and I really wanted to take my time in choosing items that were going to work for me, my small business, as well as my boyfriend," she said.

"Honestly, the outcome is absolute perfection."

The couple was able to take on the project takes to Target and Ikea finds, including a full wall of dark wood cabinets, white shelves, and even a bar cart for her storage needs.

In another video, Mari provided a full view of her "dream garage."

People took to the comments to share their thoughts on the home project.

"I LOVE that little mud area inside the garage! The whole garage turned out so good," said one commenter.

Others thanked her for setting realistic expectations for DIY projects: "Ahh thank you for sharing this!" said one viewer.

"I always feel like such a failure knowing I cannot finish a project in just a couple days."

"Honestly, it’s unrealistic and I hate the pressure, I also don’t want to buy something just because I have to! Helps me make sure I love everything," Mari replied.
