WANTING to live debt-free and fed up of constantly saving for a mortgage, one couple decided to up sticks and move into a barn in the woods in the hope to turn two, rusty shipping containers into their dream home.

Spenser and Mackenzie ditched their comfortable life in Florida and moved to Texas in a bid to live out their off-the-grid dreams.

Quitting their jobs and leaving their traditional lives behind, the duo knew it was time for a change so took a massive risk to try and live debt-free.

They sold their house to help with building expenses and lived in an old barn until the container was safe to live in.

Although the only DIY experience the pair had was building a TV stand, they went against the odds and built their dream home from scratch.

The sustainable home, which they made from two shipping containers joined together, needed a lot of work.

Once they had the foundation down and essentials like water and power,Spenser and Mackenzie continued to perfect their net-zero dream.

Working around the clock, they hired no extra help for the project and tackled every obstacle together.

Documenting the entire process on their YouTube and Instagram accounts, the project gained support from other keen DIYers.
