WHILE it might take the Love Island ladies two hours to do their make-up, I’m much more slapdash.
I like something I can apply with my fingers for a wash of colour. This week, I test liquid eyeshadows.
BUDGET
E.L.F. Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow, (£6 for 3ml): I was surprised how big the applicator is given the tube itself is pretty tiny.
The large doe-foot makes precise application hard, but the formula is easy to clean up.
You can also easily blend shades together for a bespoke colour – my favourite combo is golden Meteor and the pinky-red Big Dipper.
The main issue with this is that it doesn’t stick around much longer than a few hours.
It would be a great party-piece, but if you’re looking for an all-nighter or something to wear for long periods of time, this isn’t the one for you.

MID RANGE
GLOSSIER Lidstar (£15 for 4.5ml): Once this creamy formula sets, it’s not going anywhere.
I reckon I could sleep in it and it would still be there, unsmudged, in the morning.
Some of the paler shades are hit and miss, but I’ve found myself reaching for Branch almost every day for the past six months.
It’s the perfect warm bronze shade that flatters my blue-green eyes, and the pearl pigments make it shimmer without being glittery, so you can wear it day and night.

Plus, it layers well so you can vary the depth of the colour, and one dip in the tube is more than enough to cover both eyes, so it will last for ages.
LUXURY
CHRISTIAN Louboutin Beauty Tape à L’oeil Metallic Eye Colour (£45 for 7ml): There’s no denying this is a showstopper both inside and out.
It’s the first thing people notice on my dressing table, but the extra-long handle means it’s not travel-friendly, and it took a while to get to grips with the application as it’s much heavier than you’d expect.
It sets extremely quickly, so I found the best way to apply it was with my fingers as the warmth makes it easier to move around and blend in.
The glitter flakes are quite large, and the brighter shades give me Studio 54 vibes which will be perfect for the festive season – but I don’t find myself using it nearly as often as I’d expect to make the price worth it.
PICK OF THE WEEK
17 Créme Lip, £2: After a seriously long, hot summer – both at home and in the villa – tonight is the last night that the Love Islanders will be sleeping in their dorm-style beds, as tomorrow will see the winning couple being crowned.
