Wife spends just £2.49 at Morrisons to get her bloke’s weekly lunch of sarnies, cakes, & pastries – but there’s a catch | The Sun

IT'S no secret that the cost of food has soared recently, and making a tasty packed lunch can set you back a fair few quid these days.

So, when one savvy shopper managed to score enough grub for her husband's entire week of lunches for just £2.49, people were definitely intrigued.

Posting on Facebook, Debbie showed off a snap of her haul of goodies, which included 14 pre-made sandwiches, cakes, pastries and even scones.

However, there's a bit of a catch – she got to bag of food from Morrisons cafe using the Too Good To Go app.

The Too Good To Go app connects people with food chains as well as supermarkets with leftover food that would otherwise be thrown away.

Because the food would otherwise go to waste, app users can get major discounts on their favourite foods.

All you need to is pay through the app and show up at your given time, usually before they close, to get the food, which is usually a surprise.

In Debbie's case, she didn't know she'd be getting so many tuna sandwiches, but since she doesn't like fish she gave them all the her husband instead.

Despite the slight let down on sandwich fillings, the shopper was impressed with the amount of food in the bag.

Other bargain hunters said they've had some great deals by using the app too.
