Aldi shoppers go wild for £9 alternative to Laurent Perrier for Christmas

It's beginning to look like a Christmas bargain… as Aldi fans have gone wild for their Laurent Perrier alternative for a fraction of the price.

Wine enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that Aldi has welcomed back its popular Specially Selected Crémant Du Jura available to buy this Christmas for just £8.99. Forget pricey bottles, this Champagne alternative has been labelled a dupe of Laurent Perrier and saves shoppers up to £40 compared to the premium vino.

Aldi's Crémant Du has been recognised for its "excellent quality and great value" and was awarded the 'Best Buy' in Which? Sparkling taste test last year. Back by popular demand, the wine could be a sell-out this Christmas as some shoppers are already stock-piling ahead of the big day.

Wine experts and TikTok user @partnerinwineuk applauded the cheap Champagne alternative and said in a video: "This Crémant Du Jura is made in the exact same way as champagne – the traditional method. Giving it those delicious notes of brioche and toast. It's also made from 100% chardonnay grapes so expect elegance and freshness and plenty of citrus and fruit flavours."

After seeing the post from Partner in Wine UK, one Aldi shopper couldn't wait and stocked up, filling an entire shopping bag with the vino. Reposting the shopper's photo on Instagram, Partner in Wine UK captioned it: "Oh dear god. We really have started something, haven't we… If you want to get the Crémant Du Jura you're going to have to be quick eeeek."

‌You can get your hands on the Aldi Specially Selected Crémant Du Jura for £8.99 saving you a whopping 81% compared to the price of the luxurious Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Brut which is retailed for £48.99. The dupe is described as "a floral and fruity wine from France's Jura region" on the Aldi website.

Off the back of the hugely popular champagne alternative and for those who prefer a sparkling Rosé, Aldi is also launching a Specially Selected Crémant de Bordeaux Rosé available for just £8.99. The vino has been described as "very pale in colour with crunchy, leafy redcurrant and cranberry fruits. Really fresh and characterful with a long finish," by Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn.

Aldi’s Specially Selected Crémant Du Jura is available in stores now and via Click & Collect. The Specially Selected Crémant de Bordeaux Rosé will be available from 6 November.
