Asda shoppers rush to buy 'cosy' winter must-have that will keep you warm all night and it doesn't cost anything to run | The Sun

THE cold crisp winter air is finally starting to bite with many of us reaching for the thermostat – but there are gadgets to help.

While most of us can make do during the day without the heating on, it's in the night that we struggle to stay warm.

If you're looking to keep your energy bills low just a little bit longer then you need to head to Asda.

Shoppers are going wild for a “cosy” winter essential that will keep you warm through the night and it costs nothing to run.

Asda is selling their Lux Self-Heating Mattress Topper for just £25 online and it’s sure to keep you toasty a night.

You can get a double size for £30 and a King size for £35 online.

Self-heating mattress toppers have a unique heat-reflecting layer that combines with a deep-filled quilted top layer.

The mattress topper reflects all the body heat you produce back into itself to retain heat and keep you snug at night.

It uses no electricity so you won't have to worry about it affecting your energy bill.

If you’ve got a few extra pennies to spare Asda is selling another mattress topper that shoppers claim is snug central.

Prices for the Silentnight Self-Heating Mattress Topper start from £30 for a single-size and it’s already racked up a 4.7 star rating.

One customer said: “Love this mattress topper, it's so warm and cosy.”

Another said: “ Snuggly. Wow it works, it's thicker and keeps me so warm I don't want to get out of bed.”

“This is great for sitting on the sofa, never mind the bed! A double wraps around your body and legs on the sofa. Saves heating costs!” declared a third user.

A fourth user said: “I didn't have great expectations for it as I thought that's not very thick, put it on my bed, and it really does work, I'm warm and cosy every night now. It is not too bulky and it actually keeps you warm with no electric, winner-winner."

The self-heating mattress topper comes with a two-year warranty so you can be sure to get your money's worth.

Plus it’s machine washable and can go in the tumble dryer just like your regular linen.

Most stores are selling self-heating mattress toppers for similar prices, in Argos they start at £35.

Tesco have them a little cheaper at £32. The Range also has the Silentnight Sef Heating Mattress Topper but at a whopping £49.99.

Other ways to keep warm this winter

There are a few things you can do this winter to try and keep warm without putting the heating on.

Hot water bottles are always great for a cost-free way of keeping warm.

Electric blankets are another great way to keep warm and most cost around 3p an hour to run.

Prevention is always better than cure, make sure you draught-proof your home and seal your windows to stop air coming in.

Prices for draught excludes start from a fiver in most stores but a thick blanket rolled up will work just as well.

Loft insulation is also very important as it can stop heat escaping, therefore slashing your heating bill.

You can buy insulation from all local builder merchants or retailers such as B&Q and Wickes.

In other news, B&M shoppers are raving about an ‘"amazing" £10 item that "doubles body temperature" & means they "haven’t had the heating on".
