We’re all partial to a bold red or pastel manicure from time to time, but the best neutral nail polishes are proving something of a go-to at the moment among celebrities and beauty fans alike.

The no manicure manicure trend was really supercharged by Hailey Bieber when her nail tech revealed her signature nail polish combo, while other famous faces like Molly-Mae Hague have long been serving up neutral nail ideas for us to stick on our Pinterest boards.

With this in mind we’ve rounded up the best brands to shop for all your nude nail polish needs, for a chic and understated manicure that’ll go with just about anything.

5 of the best neutral nail polishes to shop now

Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Paint,£3.99 here

The bargain buy that everybody loves, you may remember collecting every bold and bright shade of Barry M polish while at school – but the brand is great for a neutral shade too. The Gelly range mimics the shine you get from a gel mani, without *actually* getting a gel mani.

Essie Nail Polish, £7.99 here

Another high street classic, Essie’s nail polishes are reasonably priced and great quality, with hundreds of shades to choose from including neutral-toned buys. The Queen has long been reported as a fan of the brand’s Ballet Slippers shade, while Allure is thought to be one of two shades that Kate Middleton wore on her wedding day.

Emolyne Nail Lacquer, £13 here

Emolyne only launched in 2020 but has a gorgeous range of nude polish options to compliment all skin tones (as well as some excellent reds, too), all named after landmarks, cities and countries of Africa. For a really coordinated look, you can also buy each of the 30 shades in lipstick and lip pencil, too. Matchy matchy done right.

OPI Nail Lacquer, £14.30

OPI is one of the world’s most recognisable salon-supplied brands and they make great, quality polishes for at-home use too. Bubble Bath is a classic sheer pale pink shade, while Barefoot in Barcelona is a richer neutral shade, and Hailey Bieber’s signature mani features the shade Funny Bunny (with a layer of chrome powder in Tin Man Can on top). You’re spoilt for choice.

Ciaté Plant Pots, £10 here

Made with up to 80% natural ingredients, Ciaté’s Plant Pot nail polishes’ long-wear formulas are infused with bakuchiol and biotin to help support your nails. Choose from taupe tones like Iced Frappe or pink hues like Sweet Blush.
