Can YOU spot the puma? Wild cats can even elude the expert tour guides when in their mountainous habitat

The puma’s sleek coat allows it to completely disappear into the background of its mountainous habitat – but can you it?

Typically found across the Americas, the puma is also commonly known as a cougar or mountain lion, and is a camouflage specialist.  

But despite the big cat’s secretive nature, expert tour guides can spot them easily, pointing them out to enthralled tourists. 

Photographer Grey Harvey, 51, decided to test the eagle eyes of his guides with a series of pictures of the elusive cat taken in Patagonia in Chile.

Pumas are typically found in North and South America living in rocky crags. They are highly adaptive and dwell in a range of habitats

Pumas living near the Equator are smaller than those living further north or south.

Male pumas can grow to 2.4metres in the wild and weigh an average of 62kg. Females are shorter and weigh around 42kg. 

You’ll have to get up early or stay up into the night to catch a glimpse of one though, as they are most active at dawn and dusk and during the night. 

And their solitary nature and habit of travelling more than six miles every night makes it even harder to track them down.  

There it is! The mountain lion (circled) is not the only animal in this picture but was hiding behind a bush in the ragged terrain 

This was the easy one as the puma was hiding in plain sight but the next images, taken by photographer, Greg Harvey, are more challenging
