The Eastern Philosophy, an Asian-owned small business that specializes in herbal medicines, frequently shares educational videos about health on TikTok, including a recent video that listed the ‘absolutely essential’ post-recovery hacks to practice after getting sick. 

From not having sex to avoiding overeating, the small business owner recommended her followers use the ‘self-healing’ techniques she described in a video, which has amassed over 4,000 views, and divided the tips to help heal both your emotions and behaviors. 

The small business owner explained that in ancient Chinese medicine the recovery process involves healing both your mind and adjusting your behaviors to fully get over an illness.

She first began by giving her over 252,000 followers tips on emotional guidance, which were first detailed by Sun Simiao or ‘ancient China’s king of medicine.’ 

The first tips were top ‘refrain from anger or lust’ and ‘ambition.’

The small business owner detailed exactly what the ‘king of medicine’ said and noted that there were three tips in total. 

She noted that the three tips included refraining from anger or lust, abstaining from ambition, and allowing your mind to have peace. 

Reading off one of the classic texts by Sun Simiao, she said: ‘Do not let ambition grow in the heart while resting, but let the body focus on the task of recovery on hand.’ 

Next up, she noted that if possible, you should allow the mind to be ‘quiet and still.’ 

The small business owner also detailed seven tips to help your behavior improve after having an illness. 

The first tip is to ‘avoid overworking.’ 

‘Fighting illness drains the body so we must give it time to replenish itself through rest,’ she explained. 

Then, the small business owner said you should avoid overeating when in the recovery phase. 

She explained that overeating leads to issues with your spleen and stomach. 

‘Overeating taxes the spleen and stomach,’ the small business owner explained. 

She went on to detail the fourth tip on how to improve your behavior when trying to fight off a nasty cold or flu.
