A Coronation Street actress took a swipe at her fellow stars’ fake tans in a very cheeky tweet from the British Soap Awards. 

Sally Ann Matthews, 47, who plays Jenny Bradley in the soap, took to Twitter to mock guests’ complexions, comparing them to the Oompa Loompas from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The post, shared from the ceremony in London last night, left followers in stitches, with one praising her ‘wicked’ sense of humour. 

Another commented: ‘Your tweets always crack me up!’

The stars of the best-loved British soaps were dressed to the nines last night when they attended the glittering awards show.  

Sally was tweeting her way through last night’s ceremony when she made the comment.

She posted: ‘I’m literally surrounded by 100s of wannabe Oompa Loompas x #SoapAwards #FakeTan.’

The comment was liked over 600 times, with many followers praising the sassy remark. One tweeted: ‘Stop it. Now!!! Wicked girl! *sniggers*’

Praise: The comments left her followers in stitches, with one joking that she was being ‘shady’

‘Haha sally your so funny… They have all Been tangoed,’ another posted.

A third joked: ‘Hahaha psml Sal! Chuck a bottle of water over them! #streaky!’

‘I hope none of them read this while you’re there,’ a fourth wrote.

Sally opted to wear a floor-sweeping gown with a sheer lace top and flowing black skirt for the ceremony.

She wore her red hear in a chic ponytail and carried a red clutch bag for a pop of colour.

It was a big night for Coronation Street which scooped the coveted Best Soap gong.

The soap also picked up the awards for best actor for Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), best actress for Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), villain for Connor McIntyre (Pat Phelan) and best female dramatic performance for Fallon 

Fallon has had a whirlwind year thanks to her dramatic grooming and sex ring storyline on Coronation Street.

This was her third and fourth wins for the harrowing plot, with the 22-year-old recently winning an Inside Soap Award for Best Actress and a National Television Award for Serial Drama Performance.
