Could it be that my arranged Bride-to-be isn't a virgin after all | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I’M getting married later this year and we must be virgins when we wed.

This is a matter of honour and in our religion is considered vital.

My wife-to-be is 25 and I am 30. I have met her a few times.

Our families have arranged everything and I’m looking forward to our big day.

When I showed a photograph of my bride-to-be to a friend of mine, they said that she’d been out with a friend of his.

Although we live in the UK, I was led to believe that my fiancée had not been with anyone else.

My family and I need to be sure she is a virgin before we get married.

We believe it would be a sin if she had been with another man, because a bride needs to be pure.

I’ve been out with a few Western girls but none that I intended to marry so it’s not the same for me.

DEIDRE SAYS:  She may have been out with a guy but it doesn’t mean that she’s had sex.

There’s no way of proving physically whether she is a virgin. The important thing is she is committing to you and you are to her.

There have been myths about the hymen, a membrane at the entrance to the vagina, which allegedly “breaks” on intercourse, but some women aren’t born with one and others can have a “broken hymen” from taking part in sports, for example.

I hope your union can start off equally and you have a great wedding day.
