Fans of the soap Emmerdale will know Liam Boyle for portraying the troubled character of Alex Moore, who is currently involved in a drama-filled drugs storyline.
In the show, the 37 year old actor is the ex-boyfriend of Dawn Taylor and the father of her son, Lucas. Plus, dad to Dawn’s friend’s daughter, Clemmie.
Right now, Alex is struggling with a drug addiction, and to feed his habit, is getting closer to Naomi, Vicar Charles Anderson’s daughter because his girlfriend Manpreet is a doctor at the local doctor’s surgery.
Viewers have seen Alex plot to rob the practice to feed his addiction, and in recent episodes put his plan into action.
But aside from the drama in the dales, what else do we know about the soap actor?
From his stint in Corrie to almost going down a different career route, here’s everything you need to know about Liam Boyle…
He had a brief stint in Coronation Street
Soap heads will know that Emmerdale isn’t the only show Liam has been in.
Back in 2019, the actor had a short stint in Coronation Street, where he played the role of Abe Crowley between October and November.
Abe was an inmate at Highfield Prison, and shared a cell with Corrie veteran David Platt, who ended up behind bars for breaking the terms of his parole. There's been some more recent drama on the cobbles involving David, too, but we won't get into that now.
He’s in a long term relationship with a fellow actor
Liam is in a relationship with actor Jo Woodcock, who he met when they starred alongside each other in the BBC drama Land Girls from 2009 to 2011.
During the show, Jo and Liam were also in a relationship, playing married couple Bea and Billy Finch.
The two appeared in all 10 episodes together, and since then, have been going strong.
Jo is also a credible actor and has played parts in other esteemed shows like Casualty and Doctors, plus appearing in the film Perfect Skin.
The pair are often seen on Liam’s social media, and Jo regularly posts on Twitter sharing clips from the soap and hyping her partner up.
He shared his ‘walk of shame’ on Twitter
The actor joked about his “walk of shame” last month when he posted a photo of himself walking down the street late at night on Twitter.
Not for the reason you might be thinking though – Liam was actually holding a pack of toilet rolls as he headed home in the dark.
“Walk of shame” he captioned the snap, to which one of his followers joked: “You obviously didn’t stockpile enough in 2020!"
He almost ditched acting
Just like plenty of other soap actors, (we’re talking fellow Emmerdale actor Lisa Riley, Corrie star Dawn Acton and Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire) Liam attended the Oldham Theatre Workshop.
Despite his stint at the prestigious youth theatre group, he actually had intentions of going to university to study teaching.
Apparently, it was when he was offered a role in the film Love + Hate that Liam decided to pursue his acting career.
Speaking to The Guardian in 2009, he admitted: “I often question why I'm doing this,” before going on to explain how the Love + Hate casting director was the catalyst for his decision to keep on acting.
Luckily for Liam he did, because as well as Land Girls, Corrie and Emmerdale, he also had parts in Skins, The Look of Love, Truth or Dare, Mirrors, Powder, and Anywhere.
