A zookeeper says he'll continue to ink himself at least once-a-week despite strangers thinking he's a criminal on drugs.

Tobias Müller, 33, from Dortmund, Germany, has been altering his body for 16 years and spent £1,000 on 100 tattoos.

He's had his eyeball inked, a split tongue procedure, subdermal implants and is currently being tattooed once a week.

The ink-fan has always loved tattoos even as a young child.

He began his tattoo journey at 18, a year after he went with his mum but was turned away by the shop so only got his ears pierced.

Although he faces some discrimination, Tobias is happy with look and isn't bothered by the trolls.

He said: "I have had the most negative experiences here in Germany, sometimes I'm just looked at in a derogatory way.

"It has happened that parents forbade their children to look at me, or that people changed sides of the street.

"I also regularly get hateful comments on the internet. Many of the negative reactions are due to my punk style."

Tobias recalled how he has a bad reputation in his country as people think punks would be unemployed, a criminal and on drugs.

He added: "Many people think that of me too, because they can't believe that someone who looks like me could get a job."

His obsession began a week after his 18th birthday where he became "instantly addicted" following his first ink.

However he didn't always have enough money to get inked so he ended up doing a lot himself with a hand and needle.

And while he's been modifying his body for 16 years, it doesn't look like he'll stop anytime soon.

He admitted: "It has cost me some thousands of course but some years I got my tattoos for free."

Tobias added: "I think I paid in all the years more than £10,000 but I'm not totally sure, I didn't count.

"I have tattoos all over my body, the most painful was the one on the side of my stomach towards the crotch and also my armpits."

He said his most extreme modification is his eyeball tattoo and his parents are supportive of his look despite the risks.

The ink addict explained: "My tattooed eyeball is definitely a polarising one, some people love it and are fascinated by it.

"My parents are okay with it now, when I first got it done they thought I was taking too much of a risk."

Tobias does receive positive feedback and support on his alternative look.

He revealed: "On my travels people were mostly rather curious and interested, asking for photos with me and stuff like that.

"The most positive thing is when I was described as a work of art or when a small child says 'he looks cool' to their parents."

Now giving others advice, Tobias explained: "Think carefully about whether you can handle people judging you.

"If that is okay for you then do it and don't let anyone stop you. It's your life, your body, your decision."
