Foodie makes McDonald’s McChicken in air fryer – it tastes like the real deal

A woman has come up with a home recipe to replicate McDonald's classic McChicken burger using an air fryer.

The food lover said it tasted like the "real deal" – and what's better, it's healthier without deep frying the chicken patty.

Calling it a "fakeaway", the basic ingredients are simply – burger buns, chicken patties, lettuce and mayonnaise.

But to have the flavour of salt and garlic and a slight burning sensation while eating the burger, the TikToker shared her secret seasonings in a video.

To start with, she said: "Blitz one large chicken breast along with one medium egg and a quarter teaspoon of salt.

"With wet hands, shape the chicken into patties to be slightly larger than the bun and around 1cm thick.

"Coat the patties in corn flour on both sides, then set to one side whilst you make the batter.

"Combine 40g of plain flour with 20g of corn flour, a grind of salt, one teaspoon of onion granules, one teaspoon of garlic granules, two teaspoons of English mustard, one egg and 80ml of water."

After coating the patties in the batter, she receommended to keep it in the freezer for one to two hours.

Instead of the traditional way to fry the patties in a pot of oil, the foodie suggested an energy-saving method – an air fryer.

"Air fry it at 180C for 12 to 14 minutes," she said as she put the patties into the frying basket.

Then she warmed the buns on stove and coated shredded lettuce and mayonnaise on one side of the buger.

It looked absolutely delicious when she assembled it all.

"Tried them last night…my God they were beautiful! Thanks for a great recipe!" one viewer commented.

Another wrote: "Tasted like the real deal, love your TikToks."

And a third added: "Top work! Will try this tonight."
