A Full English is a British classic – but one man left foodies baffled after sharing his spin on the traditional fry up.

Amateur cook Lawrence from Wakefield, known by his TikTok handle @lawrencetiktok90, regularly posts clips of him making staple dishes like a Sunday roast, but this clip has managed to rack up a massive 4.8 million views.

Naturally, many of us would fry some of the components of a cooked breakfast, but Lawrence surprised fans when he showed off his pan – which had two partially opened tins inside, competing for space with his eggs, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms.

One was a white can containing what appeared to be plum tomatoes, and another had baked beans, which Lawrence stipulated ‘has to be Heinz!’

He showed his audience of 3.4 million followers the tins which were half open so the contents could heat up while he fried the rest of his breakfast.

Lawrence grabbed a checked tea towel to protect his hands and warned viewers: ‘Be careful it’s not too hot,’ before opening his Heinz beans tin and tossing the contents on to the plate.

The keen cook then reached into his cutlery draw to find the best tablespoon to scoop his tomatoes onto his plate.

However, many couldn’t help but comment on the creative chef’s tea towel – one commented: ‘RIP tea towel. Gone but not forgotten’, while another admitted that ‘the tea towel dipping into the food upset me more than the tins on the pan’.

Some targeted his tin too: ‘How do you know that the tin is hygienic to be on the pan with the other food?’

Another user was unsure, saying: ‘I simultaneously love and hate the cans in the pan’ while some offered advice: ‘Safer to just heat beans, tomatoes on the plate in a microwave then add the rest of the food’.

Howeverm another commenter added that she uses this cooking method while camping and was confused as to ‘why people were shocked’.

And some were completely sold, dubbing it a ‘one pan dinner’ and branding Lawrence ‘a genius’.

The 1 minute and 53 second video enticed one hungry fan so much they declared: ‘I’ll have to make it this weekend’.

TikTok fans took to the platform to relay their health concerns and praise for the amateur cook

This comes after a ‘woke’ academic claimed the Full English breakfast isn’t very British at all because ‘bacon is from Denmark’ and ‘hash browns are American’.

Bacon, eggs, hash browns, black pudding and beans – few things are more English than a good old fry-up.

One Cambridge academic, however, seems to have been eating his breakfasts with a thick slice of wokery… and has decided the full English isn’t very English at all.

Dr Ha-Joon Chang dissected the greasy spoon favourite, saying the bacon on our plates is likely to have been produced in Denmark, while the eggs could have been shipped in from anywhere.

The economist, who said he ‘fell in love with the English breakfast’ when he came to Britain in the Eighties from South Korea, said bacon ‘is a result of the Danes industrialising the process of rearing pigs in the 19th century’.
