Genoveva Casanova has been spotted out and about in San Sebastián, where she is staying with her two dogs, as the fallout continues over photos of a night out she shared in Madrid with Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark.
The Mexican socialite, who celebrated her 47th birthday last week, wrapped up in a black puffer jacket and had air pods in her ears as she strolled down the street – just days after she issued a blistering statement slamming ‘malicious’ rumours she is in a romantic relationship with the Danish heir to the throne.
The Danish royals were rocked by reports last week that Crown Prince Frederik, a 53-year-old father-of-four who has been married to Princess Mary for 19 years, had spent a day and evening out in Madrid with Genoveva.
Photos showed the pair strolling in Barrio el Jerónimos, where Genoveva lives, after taking a walk in El Retiro Park in the centre of the Spanish capital. Spanish magazine Lecturas reported the pair had visited a Pablo Picasso exhibition earlier in the day, before heading to a restaurant to have dinner and watch a Flamenco performance.
Amid the buzz caused by the photos, Crown Prince Frederik has carried out business as usual at home this week – while Genoveva is seeking peace and quiet in San Sebastián at a residence owned by her ex-husband’s family.

The socialite, who has also dabbled in acting in the past and recently appeared on Spain’s version of Celebrity Masterchef, has been wrapping up warm as she cuts a quiet figure in San Sebastian in the north of Spain.
Photos show the socialite, who was married to Cayetano Martínez de Irujo for two years, wearing a grey hoodie and a dark wrap coat as she walks along the street – speaking on the phone in many of the snaps.
Spanish magazine Hola! reports the socialite is staying at the Palace of Arbaizenea, a property once owned by the Duchess of Alba and bequeathed to her son Cayetano Martínez de Irujo. The magazine reports Genoveva heads to San Sebastian any time she needs to ‘disconnect’ from public life.

Genoveva and her ex husband (pictured together in 2020) are said to have an ‘excellent’ relationship
It also reports that the socialite and her ex-husband, Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, are on ‘excellent’ terms, meaning she can stay at his family properties whenever she likes.
In another sighting, she is dressed in a black puffer jacket, dark trousers and Hunter wellies as she takes her dogs for a stroll.
Another outfit sported by the socialite was a black and white North Face sweater with black leggings.
Following the publication of the photos, a Spanish TV presenter said last week that sources had told her Genoveva was ‘in hiding’ and had switched off her phone.
Susanna Griso said on Espejo Público: ‘Her friends have told me that she is having a very bad time of it.
‘She is in hiding right now and has turned off her mobile phone because she doesn’t want anyone to call her.’
In several of the photos, published by Hola!, Genoveva appears to be speaking on her mobile phone.
Genoveva’s first appearance comes as Crown Prince Frederik, who is also at the centre of the storm caused by the photos, is carrying out business as usual with the Danish royal family back at home.
He and Princess Mary put on a united front yesterday as they posed for a new portrait marking a key moment for their son and future King of Denmark, Prince Christian.
He made a ‘solemn declaration that he would comply with the constitution’. This formal promise to uphold the country’s constitution is an important step forward in his journey as a king-in-waiting.
‘It is a prerequisite that the Prince will be able to be appointed as the Governor in the event that both Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Crown Prince are prevented from leading the government,’ a social media post from the royal house explained.
As Lecturas reported details of Genoveva’s night out with the Danish prince last week, it shared details of what it claimed was how the evening unfolded.
The magazine claimed that, following their visit to a Pablo Picasso exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, the pair strolled around El Retiro Park in the centre of Madrid on the afternoon of 25 October.
Following the walk, at around 7pm, Lecturas claimed both Frederik and Genoveva went to her apartment building separately, and both re-emerged at around 9pm, two hours later, both having changed their clothes into evening wear.
In photos from the evening, Genoveva has ditched her chic camel coat with a tie belt in favour of a white shirt, black wide-leg trousers and a black jacket worn on her shoulders.
Meanwhile Frederik appears to have changed from a navy jacket and brown trousers into a white shirt and dark trousers with a smart dark jacket. Again, they were reported to have emerged from the building separately, but got into the same white car.
The photos, taken at the end of October, show the Danish heir to the throne and the Mexican socialite out in the Spanish capital
Earlier in the day, following a stroll around El Retiro Park, Lecturas reported the pair returned to Genoveva’s apartment for an outfit change
The magazine claimed the pair watched a flamenco performance at a Spanish restaurant, El Corral de la Moreria, which finished at midnight.
It also claimed they remained at their table, which had been flanked by two of the Danish Prince’s bodyguards, while other customers left, waiters finished up their shifts and the lights were being switched off.
Lecturas claimed the pair did not emerge from the restaurant until 1am, when they walked out onto the street and got in a car. In a ‘gesture of courtesy’, Lecturas reports Crown Prince Frederik opened the car door for his dinner companion.
Next day, the magazine alleged the heir to the Danish throne was taken to the airport via car where he flew home to Denmark.
Following the publication of the photos, Genoveva issued a statement denying any romantic involvement with the Prince.
A statement from the socialite said: ‘I categorically deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederick and me.’
She added: ‘Any statement of this type not only completely lacks the truth but also misrepresents the facts in a malicious manner.
‘This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honor, truth and privacy.’
