A mom has been hailed a ‘hero’ after she handmade hearing aids for her five-year-old son’s toys so he could have dolls that looked like him.

Linette Taylor, 31, from New York, created the aid for her son, Dayvon Shivers Jr’s toys after having difficulties finding any dolls with hearing aids in store.

To help make her son – who also goes by Deej – feel less alone, she made it her mission to make the aids for his Woody and Spiderman dolls herself.

Her son – whose hearing was affected by an illness as a toddler – has been wearing hearing aids since he was three years old and to help make him feel ‘included’, she utilized her skills as a nail technician to create the toy-sized aids.

‘Deej was born hearing [but] he became sick as in infant and had fluid behind his ears which caused nerve damage,

One day when shopping, Linnette was trying to find toys that had hearing aids but had no luck.

She said: ‘I was shopping around for toys with hearing aids and couldn’t find any

‘I always want my son to feel included and companies do not make toys that look like him… so I make them for him.’

So, she went home and got to work.

She said: ‘I made the toy’s hearing aids with my nail products.

‘It usually takes around 20 minutes depending on the size of the toy.

In a video, the mom can be seen filling the doll’s ear with clear glue.

Once close to dry, she then peels it out so the glue is still soft and paints on the hearing aid with nail polish.

In the next clip, Woody can be seen with blue and white hearing aids, which match her son’s.

In the final video, Deej can be seen holding Woody, smiling and laughing.
