‘House of Flamenka brings sass and sexiness to traditional flamenco’ – review

National treasure Dame Arlene Phillips brings sass and sexiness to traditional flamenco in her sizzling new show House of Flamenka.

This high-camp fiesta fuses Spanish tradition with contemporary dance to great effect, featuring an array of the sexiest male dancers seen on a London stage for a very long time.

Flamenco dancer/singer Karen Ruimy is the centrepiece and the only woman in the show, surrounded by stomping swirling men.

The staging is simple but the costumes are simply fabulous, with elements of Cabaret-meets-bondage-meets-high fashion. The choreography, as you’d expect from Arlene, is modern and red-hot, showing off the dancers’ skills in every way imaginable.

A truly dazzling night out.
