I feel rejected after my partner asked for a break to deal with his divorce | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I AM in a relationship with a man going through a divorce.

We get on brilliantly and have a great time together.

Then yesterday he announced he needs some time away from me to focus on his split.

I’m 32 and my partner is 35.

We’ve been together for four months after meeting at a mutual friend’s birthday party.

We had become almost inseparable. But now, he says he has got loads going on and needs to prioritise.

He assures me that it’s not me and wants to continue our relationship when he is on top of things, but I’ve been left feeling heartbroken and rejected.

DEIDRE SAYS:  He’s still emotionally reeling from the end of his relationship.

Dating during divorce can be tricky and it sounds like he isn’t as ready for another committed relationship as he originally envisaged.

As difficult as it is for you, it’s better that he’s being honest about needing space.

Perhaps you could both agree on a time scale to check back in and see how he is feeling.

If he’s still not ready, you may be better moving on.

My support pack Mend Your Broken Heart will help you.
