DEAR DEIDRE: DO I enjoy dressing up in women’s clothes because I feel so lonely?
Sometimes, I look at my reflection and admire myself for ages.
I’m 39 but have never had a serious relationship with a woman, although I have dated a few.
I’ve never felt confident and have found it hard to engage emotionally with my partners.
For the past few years, I’ve been putting on women’s clothes, shoes and full make-up when I’m at home alone.
It makes me feel attractive and comfortable, like I’m the real me. I can’t help posing and admiring myself.
I’m not gay or transgender, so I wonder if this is just a symptom of my loneliness.

I don’t want a relationship with myself, but with a lovely woman who will accept me.
DEIDRE SAYS: Perhaps you’ve been holding back in relationships because you’ve not felt able to express your need to dress in women’s clothes.
This isn’t uncommon. My support pack, Cross-dressing, explains more.
