DEAR DEIDRE: WITH only a few weeks to go until my marriage I was consumed with fear about my wedding night.
As a 32-year-old virgin, I dreaded having penetrative sex with my new husband, 34. I’d heard it could be very painful.
Worrying about it was spoiling my excitement for my big day.
So I wrote to you, Deidre, for your advice.
You didn’t judge me at all but told me that I was almost certainly worrying unnecessarily.
First-time sex didn’t usually cause anything more than a little discomfort, particularly if it was with someone who loved me.
You gave me tips on foreplay and lubrication, and told me to take things slowly.
You also gave me your support pack, First Time Fears.
I am so grateful for your empathy and advice. The support pack was brilliant – comprehensive, easy to read and interesting.
You’ll be pleased to hear that everything went well on the wedding night.
And as you promised, it’s got even better since.
