Inside Jonnie Irwins holiday to Northumberland coast with his kids and rarely-seen sister

Jonnie Irwin has been having some quality time with his nearest and dearest over the last few weeks.

The presenter, who has terminal lung cancer that spread to his brain, posted a series of sweet snaps of his getaway on his Instagram on Tuesday.

In one picture, he and rarely-seen sister Amanda smiled for a selfie as he enjoyed a holiday on the coast in Beadnell, Northumberland.

Other photographs showed Jonnie and his kids on the beach in sun-soaked weather, having fun. Jonnie's wife of seven years, Jessica, also appeared in another picture, relaxing on a paddle board.

They share Rex, four, and twins Rafa and Cormac, three, who all looked to be having a fantastic time with their parents, playing on the beach and having some delicious ice creams.

Their dad captioned the post: "Just grabbed a few days up the coast. Rain or shine Beadnell always impresses. #bayistheway."

It comes after Jonnie posted some more pictures from his holidays on 20 August. Fans rushed to the comments to say how good they thought he looked, with one writing: "You look so well!! I hope with all my heart you are in remission”.

Another said: “Jonnie you are looking good. Lovely family time. Enjoy x”. While a third penned: “You look great, keep doing what you are doing [raising hands and red heart emoji]”.

In the photos, Jonnie can be seen with his loved ones. In one snap, he grins while sitting with his children outside in the sun. He can be seen wearing a white T-shirt, a pair of sunglasses, and a navy Detriot Tigers snapback.

Another picture shows him sitting with his family around a table with one of his children in his arms as he smiles at the camera.

He captioned the post: "The best weather, best fun and the very best people for a few days away."

The 49 year old, who was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer last year, recently opened up about palliative care during an interview on Morning Live.

He said it had been a “delight” and that it isn’t the “doom and gloom operation” that many believe it to be.

“I've been using [palliative care] for three years. Palliative care is the care that you're given when the doctors think you won't recover, so I've been in palliative care since day one."

"It's a delight actually, I wouldn't say it's like a hotel but it's like a very very nice private hospital.

"My perception of a hospice was very much a boiling hot room full of people that look frail and towards the end of their days, but it's nothing of the sort.

Earlier this month, the TV presenter took Rex to school for the last time.

He shared photos of himself and Rex, 4, who donned a Batman helmet, on a sun-soaked bike ride as the dad-of-three took the youngster to nursery.

He captioned the post: “Last EVER ride to nursery with Rex. Suitably waved off by Rafa and his spade and Rex with his game face on!”
