From a luxury dog bed to telescope to a ‘California anthem’ poster, Prince Harry offered fans a rare glimpse into his life with Meghan Markle in his new documentary.

The Heart of Invictus, which dropped today on Netflix,  features the 38-year-old prominently.

And fans have also got a glimpse into his home life, with a statement plant, giant jute rug and surprisingly a set of family photos on his desk.

Perhaps in the most obvious nod to the Californian lifestyle, Harry’s desk featured a huge oversized water bottle as well as an Apple laptop, all on a rustic table..

1. California anthem poster

The bear’s still there! Prince Harry was filmed in front of a framed print entitled ‘I Love You, California’ that was first spotted during a Zoom meeting the Duchess of Sussex took part in in 2020

Propped on the mantelpiece, the title of the work is the anthem of her home US state. Published in 1913, the tune was adopted by the sunshine state in 1951 and confirmed in 1987 as its official song

The California love-letter made its first appearance as the Duchess of Sussex joined a Zoom meeting to launch her sell-out Smart Set collection in September 2020

On the rustic fireplace behind Prince Harry is a portrait that fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have seen before.

In September 2020, just months after the couple had started their new lives in Montecito, the framed print entitled ‘I Love You, California’ made its first appearance as the Duchess of Sussex joined a Zoom meeting to launch her sell-out Smart Set collection.

Nearly three years on, the print – featuring a bear holding a California banner – still takes pride of place, propped on the mantelpiece. The title of the work is the anthem of her home US state. Published in 1913, the tune was adopted by the sunshine state in 1951 and confirmed in 1987 as its official song.

2. Antique telescope

Starry, starry night: A gold and dark wood telescope perches in the corner of the couple’s office

The Sussex’s gilded patch of California is blessed with beautiful night skies and a telescope in the study – seemingly a new addition to the couple’s office – suggests that Harry and Meghan might engage in a spot of star-gazing.

The gold telescope, perched on dark wood legs, could be, of course, purely decorative, but it’s position in the corner of the room, perfectly positioned close to a window suggests it’s ready for use.

3. Over-sized water bottles

Thirsty? Too oversized water bottles  are seen on Prince Harry’s desk during the Heart of Invictus documentary

Given that one of Prince Harry’s son Archie’s first words was ‘hydrate’, it makes sense that the Duke of Sussex might have a large bottle of water on his desk.

Perched on the edge of the expansive desk are not one but two tall glass swing top bottles.

During a lighthearted moment in Meghan and Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Meghan said their talkative son’s new favourite thing to say was ‘hydrate’, a week after his doting dad told James Cordon’s Late Late Show that Archie’s first word had surprisingly been ‘crocodile.

4. Statement houseplant

Adding to the natural decor of the room is a large houseplant, which is placed by two of the office’s windows to take advantage of the light

With light flooding into the room where Harry and Meghan frequently take their Zoom calls, it’s the perfect place for a houseplant.

Another new addition to their office seems to be a towering indoor plant that reaches the ceiling from its over-sized pot.

5. Rustic table

The long table, in a trendy distressed wood, has been seen several times on camera when the couple have filmed in their office

The centerpiece of the room, the large rustic table that Prince Harry perches his Apple laptop on has already featured frequently in the interviews recorded in the couple’s home.

With stylish turned legs and a distressed look, the dining table is used as a desk byt the couple, and is long enough to seat both the Duke and Duchess comfortably should they wish to sit side by side while working.

6. Giant jute rug

A large natural fibre rug – likely jute or wheatgrass – sits underneath the table in the office

With wooden floors laid down in the study, the couple have added an over-sized natural fibre rug to add a little comfort – but stay in keeping with the natural materials and neutral colours favoured.

It likely has a practical use too – protecting the wooden floor from the legs of that statement table.

7. Family photos

Although Harry has a tense relationship with his family – there appear to be some family photos on his desk.

9. Luxury dog blanket

Luxury furnishes every inch of Harry and Meghan’s California abode, and there’s no exception for their pooches.

Speaking at the WellChild awards in 2022, Harry said: ‘Between the three of them, they charge around chasing squirrels and causing all sorts of problems to us every single day. But they are also emotional, emotional support dogs 100% when they’re behaving’.

The couple has also adopted chickens, which they claim were rescued from battery farms and now live with them at their new home.

10. Glasses cases

The prince recently posed in women’s sunglasses on a shopping trip for treats to take home to wife Meghan from his solo trip to Japan.

The Duke of Sussex was accompanied by his polo player friend Nacho Figueras, who posted on Instagram that they were ‘shopping for our wives’ in central Tokyo.
