Jesy Nelson’s life since Little Mix – new boyfriend to divisive solo career

Since leaving Little Mix back in 2020, it’s safe to say that former bandmate Jesy Nelson, has been busy.

From finding romance to starting a new life in Los Angeles, the singer has barely slowed down since parting from the band, with plenty of doors opened to the star in the wake of her departure.

Now, three years on, Jesy is embarking on a brand new challenge as she takes part in the Great British Bake Off’s iconic Stand Up To Cancer special, a star-studded edition of the show which puts our favourite celebrities to the test to see if their bakes can impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

But with the show kicking off on Sunday night, many fans at home have been left curious about what Jesy has been up to prior to entering the Bake Off tent.

So from finding love with new boyfriend Zion Foster to embarking on a brand new solo career, we unpack the biggest changes in Jesy’s life since she parted ways with Little Mix.

Working in Los Angeles

One of the biggest changes in Jesy’s life, was her decision to swap her home in Romford, East London, for the sun soaked streets of Los Angeles for several months while she worked on her solo music album.

While staying in Los Angeles, the star treated herself to a temporary home, which featured all the lavish features and trimmings a showbiz maven could wish for.

In July 2022, Jesy even gave fans a first hand look at her home, as she documented her new life on Instagram.

Showing off her incredibly well furnished home, fans at home could see that the clean interiors featured grey sofas with printed cushions and a slate grey table.

The impressive home also boasted floor to ceiling glass doors that opened out into her enviable garden and plush green grass sat next to a massive outdoor pool complete with sun loungers.

The property also boasted it’s very own BBQ, and even a balcony to enjoy the sunshine without ever needing to step outside!

The move was part of an extended stint in the United States to continue working on material for her upcoming album, after record label bosses were reportedly “underwhelmed” by the material produced following her debut single.

Divisive solo career

Following her split from Little Mix in 2020, Jesy decided to embark on a a solo music career and was quickly snapped up by Polydor Records who saw a lot of potential in her fanbase and unique voice.

Signing a record deal with the record label in May 2021, Jesy began working on new music and even wiped her Instagram account in anticipation of her solo debut, a song named “Boyz” that even featured musical heavyweight Nicki Minaj.

There were even rumours flying of a collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am.

However, in July 2022, Jesy sensationally split from Polydor citing “creative differences” after the label was left unimpressed by the material she was producing.

Since then she has continued to make music as an independent artist, which gives her a great deal more control over her sound.

As of December 2022, the star revealed she had filed the music video for her next single “Cried Out” which is slated to be released in 2023.

Finding Love

Jesy’s music career may have been a bit of a rollercoaster in recent months, but one good thing to have come out of the experience is her blossoming new romance with London based rapper Zion Foster.

The couple first sparked romance rumours in Summer 2022, after the former Little Mix singer, 31, is believed to have grown close to Zion, 23.

Jesy added further fuel to the rumours by posting a shot of a bouquet, along with the caption: "I'm a lucky girl," with a lovestruck emoji, after the pair had reportedly enjoyed a romantic getaway together.

In addition, the songstress had also been consistently commenting on Zion's social media posts over recent weeks, furthering speculation that the pair were romantically involved.

After weeks of intense speculation from fans, the couple finally admitted they were an item in January 2023, when the couple publicly confirmed their romance on social media.

Leaving no room for misinterpretation, Jesy shared a sweet photo montage of the couple kissing each other on the social media platform as she confirmed to the world that they were very much in love.

“Wholesome,” she simply captioned the post.
