Neighbours spared a moment for the dearly departed fictional good friends during the show’s final episode, with major stars reprising their iconic roles one last time.

Madge Bishop (Anne Charleston), Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey) and Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland) were seen partying alongside their living loved ones, in a special sequence previewing an alternate reality where the characters were still alive today.

Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne), writing in the Ramsay Street history book, described what makes the famous street such a special place, noting that it’s not the gardens, houses or the trees, but the people that live on it.

Amid her powerful speech, she took a moment to reflect on the neighbours that they’ve lost over the years, and how many of them were taken far too soon.

‘This street always has a way of bringing people back’, she said, ‘then I think of the people who can’t come back.

‘The people gone too soon. How would they look if they were still alive today? If they’d been allowed to reach their potential.

‘So many people. Lost’.

As Susan’s powerful words hit home, viewers could see Doug Willis (Terence Donovan) who died in 2016, smiling fondly at Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou) and Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), who had previously reunited.

Madge, meanwhile, was sitting beside Harold.

Hendrix, who died in heartbreaking scenes earlier this year when a lung transplant operation didn’t go as planned, was then seen partying with wife Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone).

Sonya Rebecchi, meanwhile, was watching the street party from afar, clinging on to son Callum (Morgan Baker), daughter Nell (Scarlett Anderson) and little Hugo.

No, you’re crying.

Susan wasn’t finished there, as she reflected on the souls who were ‘just lost’. As she said such a thing, killer Finn Kelly (Rob Mills) was seen strutting up the street.

Finn, as viewers will recall, was responsible for the terror that ensued during the late-night 35th anniversary outings on an island two years ago.

He claimed the lives of several Erinsborough legends, tried to kill several more and even took Susan hostage.

Fair play to Susan for even giving him a mention!

‘I think you have to acknowledge everything’, she said, finishing out her thought, ‘celebrate it all.

‘Everyone deserves a place in the history of Ramsay Street, even those who watched us from afar’.

Neighbours subsequently concluded with a bang, as the residents of the street did what they did best – entertaining us, and putting a smile on our faces – one final time.
