Man ‘ruins’ Christmas after using mum’s expensive wallpaper as wrapping paper

One man ‘ruined’ his mum's Christmas with a hilarious mishap after mistaking her roll of expensive new wallpaper for wrapping paper.

The man had his antics exposed on social media by his brother Daniel – and it’s left people baffled and in hysterics.

In the post, Daniel claims his brother bought the whole family a series of thoughtful gifts for Christmas.

But the lad forgot one crucial part – the wrapping paper.

In a rush to get the goods under the tree before Christmas Day, the man searched his mum’s home hoping to find some leftover rolls to use.

He came across a roll of patterned blue paper and thought all of his Christmas’ had come at once – but he was about to make a costly mistake.

The roll he had uncovered wasn’t wrapping paper but his mum’s expensive new wallpaper – which costs £62 per roll (€70).

Posting to Twitter on Christmas Eve, Daniel said: “My brother used, as wrapping paper, the wallpaper that mum had bought to redecorate rooms.

“I cannot cope ahahah. First Christmas argument underway!”

The post quickly attracted attention, gaining thousands of likes, retweets and replies as users desperately waited to hear mum’s reaction.

According to SmallJoys, one user said: “Let us know when the funeral is."

Another added: “Probably my favourite part of social media. Making direct and personal connections that spread a little bit of humanity and love."

“Wallpaper feels 100% different than wrapping paper, how do you confuse them?” pondered a third.

A man claiming to be a representative of the company that creates the wallpaper also reached out to Daniel to offer the mum a new roll for Christmas.

They said: “I work for Graham and Brown, who make the wallpaper your mum loves.

“As it’s the season of goodwill and peace to all, I’m sure I can arrange a free replacement roll. So no need to argue!

“DM me and we’ll get a roll to you in the New Year."
