MARTIN Lewis has revealed how shoppers can get a 40% Aldi discount code for summer essentials.

Spring is underway and many of us will be thinking about how to spruce up the garden.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Martin Lewis podcast, the money expert said shoppers can grab a discount code for Aldi.

Martin said: "Aldi doesn't often do codes but there is one available at the moment."

He said shoppers can use the code "OUTDOOR40" when buying garden furniture online to get 40% off.

"It could be a BBQ, or gazebo or a pizza oven or even a hot tub or a trampoline – it brings the prices right down," Martin said.

"Obviously only buy them if you need them but if you're an Aldi shopper and you tend to buy its outdoor goods which are very popular, you may as well use the code."

Some of the items available include a Gardenline smoker BBQ which you can get for £60 using the code, down from £99.99.

Or if you're after a gazebo then you could buy the Gardenline decorative gazebo – also for £60, down from £99.99.

Aldi is also selling a 14ft Rebounder trampoline which will cost you £179.99, down from £299.99 – over £100 saving.

Shoppers will need to type in the code at checkout – there should be an option to add a discount code.

Delivery costs £3.95 for large items and £9.95 for extra large items, even if the value of the product costs more than £30 so bear that in mind.

All click & collect orders cost £4.99.

The offer is only available until April 12 and as it's part of Aldi's SpecialBuy items, stock could go fast so you may want to be quick.

Remember, it's only a bargain if you were planning on buying the item anyway.

And of course, do shop around for the best deal – it might be that you can find something similar at a cheaper price.

At the time, Aldi was actually one of the cheapest stores we could find for a large trampoline.

Jumpflex is selling a 14ft one for £499 but if you're happy with a smaller one, Argos is selling an 8ft one for £130.

How to save money at Aldi

Dupe it

There are many ways to save money by shopping at Aldi.

The supermarket is known for selling dupes of luxury items and you may want to consider trying them before splashing the cash.

For example, shoppers have been quick to lap up its candles and fragrances which have mirrored some of Jo Malone's items.

It also recently duped a McDonald's menu item after it was cut from the restaurant chain. 

And let's not forget it's Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake which bore an uncanny resemblance to M&S' famous Colin.

Freebies

Alongside all the low prices, there's the occasional freebie you can score too.

Aldi shoppers can pick up FREE nappies in-store with an easy-to-claim voucher, for example.

Parents can get the full-sized pack free of charge thanks to a Netmums partnership.

You have to sign up, and you'll be mailed the free voucher that you can claim only in an Aldi store.

It's great for struggling parents though, and sometimes you can cash in on other deals.

This one was spotted by bargain hunters on Latest Deals, but to keep track of other freebies and more, you can use the site along with other deal hunting sites like Hotukdeals.

You can also find other bargains that might otherwise be "hidden" to you by joining Facebook groups – there's one called Aldishoppersuk, and others like Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK host great deals too.

Wine

Whether you enjoy red wine, white wine or bubbles, Aldi has a large selection of wine to choose from.

You can get a bottle of Aldi's award-winning organic Prosecco for £7.99.

There are over 150 white, red and sparkling products that you can choose from, with the cheapest bottled starting at £5.49.

Seeing red

Aldi has its own version of yellow sticker bargains too.

But they're red in the budget supermarket, so you need to keep your eyes peeled if you were looking for discounted food labelled differently.

Supermarkets will often reduce the price of food nearing its use by date to shift stock and avoid food wastage – and the store will flag these discounts with yellow stickers.

The food is still good to eat, and in some cases you can freeze what you buy so it will last that bit longer too.

You can often save up to 75% off products marked up in this way, so it's worth keeping an eye out in the store.

Aldi discounts other goods by 30% if the packaging is imperfect too.
