Energy costs are almost double last year's winter and sadly things could get worse.

With the cost of living crisis crippling millions of Brits, it's no doubt people will want money saving hacks to help.

Now Martin Lewis warned things are likely to get more expensive as he shared tips on his MoneySavingExpert website.

Posting in his weekly newsletter, he said the energy price guarantee has been extended to the end of March 2024.

He claimed if the price cap is higher than the guarantee, the state subsides the difference to keep energy bills lower.

And the price guarantee rate will so increase by 20% on April 1, 2023.

The amount is rising by an average 20% so Brits could pay £3,000 a year if they're currently on £2,500 annually.

He added: "There will not be a £400 all-homes cost of living payment in winter 2023/24.

"While a household with typical use pays £2,500 a year, next year the rate goes up to £3,000 with no payment.

"So all-in that's an increase of 43% and the loss of the £400 will feel even bigger for lower users."

And to help beat costs next year, Martin warned there's no cheaper tariffs available.

However, Brits can cut their usage by switching off some appliances which are running all day long for no reason.

Also it's important to check costs as some people could be paying more than they need to.

Brits can receive £100 Amazon and John Lewis vouchers for using less energy.

The scheme, which started in November, will reward Brits with cash rebates and vouchers for consuming less energy between 4-7pm.

But many energy companies are limiting how many people can sign up.
