A mom-of-two has detailed her ‘yearly struggle’ on TikTok, claiming she wakes up on Christmas Day with no gifts for her under the tree, which has sparked fierce debate among social media users.
Mary Yang, from Michigan, posted a short clip showing an unimpressed look on her face with the caption: ‘I know I’m not the only mom who woke up Christmas morning with not a single present under the tree for them as you watched your kids and husband unwrap the presents you spent all month stressing over.’
The clip, which was posted on Christmas Day, has since garnered more than 500,000 views, with many moms relating to her story.
One person wrote: ‘Been married 20 years and have yet to get a Christmas gift… it’s the same thing every year “I don’t know what you want”. How about a divorce?’

Another TikTok user detailed similar woes, commenting: ‘This happened to me. It wasn’t that I didn’t get a gift, it’s that no one even noticed I didn’t have a gift.’
While a third person said that the same situation happened to her once, but her father-in-law told her husband off and told him ‘make sure that doesn’t happen again.’
Mary revealed in the comment section that the lack of gifts doesn’t just happen at Christmas and she doesn’t receive anything from her husband on other special occasions either.
She explained: ‘It’s a constant struggle we have every year for the past seven years for every special occasion. You would think I would learn my lesson by now.’
Offering a pearl of wisdom, someone else revealed that the same thing happened to her and it used to bother her.

Mary revealed in the comment section that the lack of gifts doesn’t just happen at Christmas. She doesn’t receive anything from her husband on other special occasions
But in a bid to get over the upset, she started buying gifts for herself while shopping for everyone else.
She recommended to other moms in the same position as Mary: ‘Buy yourselves a gift – or 10!’
Another top tip came from another TikTok user who revealed: ‘I send them all my list… best thing.
‘Everyone happy. And I don’t end up with random stuff I have to return.’
One woman revealed that the lack of gifts from her husband eventually led to a divorce, which she described as the ‘best gift EVER!’
But one person pointed out: ‘For all of those saying to just go buy for yourself, it’s not about the actual gift, it’s feeling left out and not important enough to be thought of.’
While many of the moms shared similar stories to Mary, some gave a reason to be hopeful.
One comment read: ‘I cannot relate. My husband of 28 years makes mine magical every year. Demand that for yourself! You’re worth it!’
And another person said: ‘I got a vacuum cleaner. But to be fair, it’s a very nice one and it’s what I asked for.’
