A mum has sparked debate after revealing she named her newborn son Coast in an ability to help him stand out – but not everyone is certain it will ‘age well’.
Calyn Breann, who goes by @calynbreann on TikTok, shared footage of herself holding Coast with the caption: ‘You should have named him something different, his name won’t age well.’
This is seemingly a comment the US woman has received in the past from those who questioned her choice of moniker, but she reinforced her position by saying: ‘I love my baby Coast!!!!!’
At first there were plenty of people in Calyn’s comment section on the app who adored her child’s unique name.

‘Coast is such a good name!’ one woman wrote.
‘I think the goal should be for him to love his name,’ said another.
‘I really love the name too. I like names that aren’t run of the mill. A unique name is definitely not so bad,’ a third added.
One person teased: ‘Grandpa Coast, sounds fine to me.’
‘Cool name! All the hate coming from those who named their son Bill,’ said another.
For others the name Coast was a ‘huge mistake’ that Calyn would ultimately end up regretting.
‘Hey as a teacher, I can both spell and pronounce it easily. So from this perspective, well done,’ one woman explained.
Another said: ‘I personally don’t like the name, but it’s your child and as someone who gave their child a unique name, who am I to judge lol’.
