My anxiety is holding me back from my dream of skydiving | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: ALL my life I’ve dreamed of skydiving. There’s something about the risk that always intrigued me.

So when a friend suggested we try it, for charity, it felt like a no-brainer. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, after all.

But the reality of actually doing it has been overwhelming and now I’m regretting saying yes.

I’m a woman of 34 and have  always suffered with my nerves. Anxiety has held me back for as long as I can remember.

I don’t know what got into me when I agreed. I think I just wanted to finally take control.

But now the thought of this is crippling me, and I don’t know why I wasn’t honest with myself at the start.

DEIDRE SAYS: Don’t beat yourself up. The fact you tried to push yourself is a sign you are trying to over-come your fears. This is a really positive step.

To keep battling your anxiety, push yourself a little more in every scenario you struggle with.

By taking more steps forward, no matter how little, you build your resilience.

My support pack Living With Anxiety explains where you can get more help.
