What spitting scandal? Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios’ glam girlfriend shares a video of him looking relaxed as they cuddled on the sofa to watch Andy Murray’s match on TV

  • Costeen Hatzi, 22, has travelled the world to support Aussie tennis ace Kyrgios

Wimbledon’s bad boy Nick Kyrgios appeared to shrug off any controversy last night – as his girlfriend shared a sweet clip of the couple cuddling on a sofa.

The Australian, 27, sparked criticism after an extraordinary Wimbledon performance which saw him spit in the direction of a spectator and shout abuse at line judges.

He dubbed one ‘a snitch with no fans’ for reporting his antics and claimed another ‘can’t see the ball’ during his win over Britain’s Paul Jubb on Tuesday.

But Kyrgios didn’t appear to let the controversy bother him as he cuddled up with his new girlfriend Costeen Hatzi, 22, to watch Andy Murray’s match on Wednesday night.

The pair were seen relaxing on a sofa in a clip shared to Instagram by psychology student Ms Hatzi, who has been travelling the world supporting her athletic beau.

Kyrgios will face Serbia’s Filip Krajinović in his second round match today.

However, the Australian tennis ace has been barred from the centre courts at Wimbledon for the rest of the tournament in the wake of the spitting scandal.

Officials have reportedly decided not to dump Kyrgios out of Wimbledon.

Kyrgios spat towards heckling fans immediately after his rollercoaster first-round win over Britain’s Judd earlier this week.

He is yet to be handed a punishment for the incident, but will cop a hefty fine along with being booted to the All England Club’s outside courts, News Corp reported.

The Aussie later sparked further controversy for eating sushi during a post-match press conference, with many tennis fans accusing him of being disrespectful.

‘You are disrespectful for eating whilst being interviewed; you need to get some respect,’ one said.

‘Nick Kyrgios saying he doesn’t want people to disrespect him whilst spitting at people, calling line judges ‘old man’ and then sitting through a press conference eating,’ wrote another.

The 2022 Australian Open doubles champion said he spat towards a spectator who was disrespecting him and hurling unnecessary abuse at the player.

‘Just pure disrespect, just anything. Someone just yelled out I was s**t in the crowd today. Is that normal? No. I just don’t understand why it’s happening over and over again,’ Kyrgios said.

‘Have you ever gone to a supermarket and just started berating someone scanning the groceries? No. So why do they do it when I’m at Wimbledon? Why is that?’

He has even hinted that he’s planning on popping the question, telling one fan their engagement is coming soon.

Kyrgios isn’t afraid to declare his love for his brunette girlfriend, writing in a birthday post: ‘My beautiful Costeen, the most amazing person I’ve ever met. You’ve been the biggest blessing in my life and I’m so incredibly thankful that I get to call you my best friend.

‘No matter what we do, I always get excited because I know that we are going to make every little moment enjoyable. There is nothing I love more than being able to make you laugh and seeing that amazing smile of yours.

‘I’m so incredibly proud of how far we have come, and now to say we have a home together. I cannot wait for all our adventures, big or small, or around the world.’
