A new optical illusion has caught the attention of a large audience on TikTok after it vows to determine how likeable you are based on your perception of an image.

The personality test is one of the latest shared by brainteaser guru Mia Yilin, proving a big hit with more than 29,000 viewers who ‘liked’ her post.

Yilin presented her viewers with a mind-bending image that depicts the silhouette of a wine glass and two forks, inviting viewers to take note of which detail they see first.

“What’s the first thing you see in this picture?” She asked her followers. “If you first saw the two forks then you’re very stubborn and strong-willed.”

These people rarely look back once they’ve put their mind to something and quite often put freedom and romance at the forefront of their priorities.

“You’d never hold anyone back in the name of love,” the content creator points out, however.

Meanwhile, viewers who saw the wine glass first are likely to have different priorities at the forefront of their minds, according to the clip.

Yilin went on: “If you first saw the wine glass then people constantly want to get close to you because of how caring and likeable you are.

“However, you’re very selective with your inner circle and not everyone can get in. You hate people who play mind games. You prefer to silently distance yourself,” from such people instead of exposing them directly.”

Viewers were mesmerised by the accuracy of the personality test, which draws on the notion of perceptual phenomena.

One viewer wrote: “I don’t know the science behind this but you are always accurate. I never saw the fork until you mentioned it. Keep it up, dear.”

Another quipped: “This is probably the best one yet and possibly most relatable […] saw the forks first btw.”

One person wrote: “Fork. Wow, this is super accurate.”

Though many personality tests are developed on the understanding that perceptual phenomena reflect personality traits, this is yet to be proven.

In other words, there is no substantial evidence that different personality characteristics can be determined through pictures.

These tests ultimately draw on the understanding that humans make assumptions about the world based on the things they see.
