EXCLUSIVE: British comedian Russell Howard is launching a comedy podcast featuring the likes of John Oliver, Jimmy Carr and Taylor Tomlinson.
The stand-up, who has had his own specials on Netflix, will release the first episode of Wonderbox on October 11. The podcast launch coincides with the East Coast U.S. leg of Howard’s latest tour.
Avalon, which manages the comedian and writer, is producing. The format will see Howard discussing with special guests their ‘Wonderbox, which is “a place where you keep the little reminders that make life worth living.”

Each week, Howard will ask the guest about what they’d keep in their Wonderbox, recounting the most memorable and funny moments of their lives. Listen to the trailer below.
The series will begin with a conversation with Emmy-nominated singer Sam Ryder and BAFTA-nominated comedian Munya Chawawa (Race Around Britain) in a special bumper double episode.
Guests will include Last Week Tonight host John Oliver, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown host Jimmy Carr, Taylor Tomlinson (Quarter-Life Crisis, Look At You), Jack Whitehall (A League of Their Own, At Large), Greg Davies (Taskmaster, The Cleaner), Guz Khan (Man Like Mobeen), Jen Brister (Live at the Apollo, Meaningless), Jordan Gray (Transaction) and Rachel Parris (Late Night Mash).
“I love doing this podcast,” said Howard. “I get interesting guests and I ask them what they love. In a world of misery, it’s an absolutely joyous celebration of the little things that make people tick.”
Howard is know for Netflix specials Lubricant and Recalibrate. Lubricant, an attempt to make sense of the Covid-19 outbreak, was accompanied by a documentary, Until the Wheels Fall Off, which charted his attempts to continue performing during the pandemic. He also wrote and presented Sky’s topical comedy The Russell Howard Hour, which wrapped after six seasons last year, and fronted BBC2’s Russell Howard’s Good News.
His latest stand-up tour, Russell Howard Live, sold more than 250,000 tickets in the UK and Ireland. He’s taking the tour to the States next, playing Washington, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago, Boston, Charlotte, Norfolk, St Louis and finishing in Cleveland on October 22, soon after Wonderbox‘s debut.
Wonderbox will launch on all major podcast platforms next month.
