A jacket which is designed to look like a keyboard is causing a stir online, with shoppers divided over its hefty price £495 price tag.

The design from kitsch London-based retailer, Liminal, features a bulky black and grey jacket with multiple zipped up pockets.

The product description says the item is ‘a work of art in itself’, painstakingly created ‘from 54 individually placed 3D padded keys’.

The nylon jacket also includes an adjustable waist.

With production beginning on June 14, after pre-orders closed, those who managed to get theirs in will have the puffer just in time for the colder seasons with the items expected to ship in the next few weeks.

However, some found £495 too steep,  taking to social media to hit out at the ‘absurd’ pricing.

‘Love the design but I find it too expensive,’ one wrote.

‘By the time I’m paid at the end of the month it will be sold out,’ another added.

A third penned: ‘LMAO not for that price.’

But many were quick to defend the jacket, pointing out that it was an artistic endeavour which requires a lot of skill.

‘Honestly I was surprised that this was ONLY £495. It’s worth much much more,’ one wrote.

A second agreed: ‘People need to try sewing something before tripping on the pricing.

‘Art takes time and artists have to get paid.’

‘Everyone complaining about the price but will pay half the price for a tshirt,’ another hit out.

According to the designers’ Instagram, a version of the design in beige was also available for a whopping £895 – but this is not currently listed on the website.

The ‘OG Beige’ design was described as a ‘limited bespoke edition’ offering which is ‘hand produced in London and can be completely customised from sizing to key placement’, including one on one design work with each client.

The store, whose Instagram has around 15,000 followers, specialises in boutique streetwear and concept art.
