On 23 JulyDeclan Donnellyannounced the happy news that he and wife Ali Astall hadwelcomed a baby boy to their familywith an adorable snap of the newborn.

Taking to Instagram Dec, 46, wrote: "Shortly before 10am yesterday, 23.7.2022, Ali and I welcomed the arrival of our son, Jack Anthony Alphonsus, a very welcome ray of light.

"He is wonderful and Isla is beyond excited to be a big sister! D x".

The youngster’s name is a homage to the men in Dec’s life including best palAnt McPartlinand also a nod to his father who passed away in 2011.

The newborn’s first name is Jack and according toBabyNamesthe meaning behind the name is a religious one.

The website says: “The name Jack is primarily a male name of English origin that means God Is Gracious.

“Originally a nickname for the given name John, it has now become a given name on its own. When short for Jackson, the name Jack it means Son of Jack/John. Nicknames of the name Jack include Jay and J.J. Jac and Jak are alternate spellings of the name Jack.”

While his middle name is a tribute to 46 year old Ant McPartlin – whose full name is Anthony.

Baby Jack’s second middle name is Alphonsus which is a sweet nod to Dec’s father who had the same name and passed away in 2011.

Ali, who is 43, and Dec married in Dec’s native Newcastle in 2015, although they knew each other for nearly two decades after meeting through work. In 2018, the couple welcomed adaughter called Isla, into the world.

In Ant & Dec’s book, Once Upon a Tyne, Dec opened up about becoming a dad, writing: "Becoming a dad has completely transformed me. At first, like all expectant parents, I didn't truly understand how much it was going to change me.

"I just thought it was another little person coming to live in the house… It opened up a whole other side to me, a side I didn't know existed.

"I felt a love that I didn't realise it was possible to feel. Everything I do, every day, is for my daughter now."

Dec's new arrival follows the sad news ofhis brother Dermott’s deathearlier this month.

Dermott, 55, was said to have fallen unwell and collapsed, sparking the late Catholic priest to be rushed to hospital, where he later passed away. Speaking out on the loss, Dec described himself as "heartbroken".

He wrote on the official Ant & Dec Twitter page: "I am heartbroken to tell you that my darling brother Fr Dermott, @TweeterPriest, sadly passed away this afternoon.

"We are all beyond devastated. Thank you for your messages of sympathy and support, they are appreciated.”
