While everyone else is planning to step out as Barbie and Beyoncé for Halloween this year, Swifties are conspiring to come up with the most clever Taylor Swift-inspired costumes only real ones will get. In fact, they’ve been doing this since Swift first started her worldwide Eras Tour in March — the concert outfits have been insanely good.
But rather than dressing up as a mirrorball, midnight rain, or recreating Swift’s iconic snake jumpsuit, one fan pulled costume inspiration from a lyric from Swift’s ‘Death By A Thousand Cuts’ others have let go under the radar:
“I ask the traffic lights if it’ll be all right / They say, ‘I don’t know.’”
#Inverted #Swifties get yourself to @target before they sell out!! You better believe I’m wearing this for our October shows at @Container Collective Social somehow! #halloween #costume #erastouroutfits #DBATC #dbatcbridge #SWIFTOK #fyp
To recreate this look from @burning_red_band, you’ll first want to head to Target and pick up the Light Up Traffic Light Halloween Costume, which is currently on sale for just $25. The blinking lights are powered by a hidden battery pack and the entire thing is made of a felt fabric, so you’ll stay comfy all night no matter how late the Halloween party goes.
Then, using a Cricut machine or black construction paper (or even black paint if you’re in a bind), cut and paste the letters I, D, and K onto the three blinking lights. Your fellow Swifties are going to scream (in a good way!) when they see you.
“You’ve simply won Halloween,” one person commented on @burning_red_band’s post. Another added, “This makes me smile so big! Love it.”
Swift actually took to Tumblr in 2019 to further explain what the traffic light lyric meant, writing, “Like how when you’re struggling through something time slows down and everything is a sign and you’ll take advice from a tree because you’re just GOIN THROUGH IT MAN.”
Unfortunately, the traffic lights had no opinion to share with Swift. But wow, they make a great Halloween costume. Grab your traffic light getup at Target while it’s still in stock and win that upcoming Swiftie-themed costume contest.
