What’s the story? 

Founded in 2020 by entrepreneur Ruth Alice Rands, Herd luxury knits champion local sheep farming and production. It has a hyper-local wool supply chain of 230 miles (the average is 18,000 miles), and works with family-run factories and artisans. 

Why should I buy?

The brand uses zero toxic chemicals in its production process; pieces are dyed with plant extracts and are set with naturally occurring compounds. All of Herd’s pieces are 100 per cent biodegradable – buttons are made from nuts and labels from cotton.  

Why shouldn’t I buy? 

Price. But this is a quality product that, when cared for (if not left in a pub), will last a lifetime and ticks all the right sustainable-luxury boxes.

The extra mile

From farmers in Northwest England to finishers in Nottingham, the entire supply chain is traceable via Herd’s website. All pieces are made in the UK and the brand ensures everyone along the chain is treated fairly.
