Tradesmen’s top of the pops have been revealed from construction workers rocking out to Papa Roach to joiners chilling with Radiohead.
Experts at Toolbox by Admiral have searched UK Spotify data to find the music featuring in 14 trades’ most popular playlists – from bricklayers and carpenters to gardeners and electricians.
It comes just before music lovers will get their hands on their yearly Spotify Wrapped, breaking down their most listened to artists, albums and songs.
According to the research, Nirvana, The Killers and AC/DC prove to be most popular for trades across the board.

Unsurprisingly, gardeners love listening to songs about the weather while working.
Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles, Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks, Sunny by Bobby Hebb and In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry are all in their Spotify playlists.
Sticking to an upbeat theme, Dreams by Fleetwood Mac and Three Little Birds by Bob Marley & The Wailers, also made it.
The research also revealed that builders in the UK love Red Hot Chilli Peppers, as two of their songs made it into the groups top 10 – Californiacation and Snow (Hey Oh).
Meanwhile, landscapers are big country music fans, as Jon Pardi, Oliver Anthony, Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, and Jason Aldean all make it into their top 10 songs.
Guns N’ Roses is another favourite for multiple trades – electricians top 10 consists of three hits from the band: Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O’ Mine and Paradise City.
Alongside the likes of AC/DC and The Rolling Stones, they also made it into the carpenters top jams to work to.

Joiners’ favourite song to work to is Creep by Radiohead, meanwhile those on a construction site love Last Resort by Papa Roach
Landscapers and bricklayers have very different tastes when it comes to listening to tunes on the job
Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana came out on top, closely followed by the 2004 smash hit Mr Brightside by The Killers, and again AC/DC making an appearance with Back in Black.
In fourth place was Thunderstruck, also by AC/DC and finishing off the top five is Come As You Are by Nirvana.
Similarly, both Thunderstruck and T.N.T by AC/DC made it high on the list of carpenters favourite songs.
Bricklayers number one bop is When The Sun Goes Down by Arctic Monkeys, followed by Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac and Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Those working in construction have slightly different tastes, opting for Last Resort by Papa Roach, before dancing along to Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes.
Meanwhile, joiners can’t say no to a bit of Radiohead, The Verve, Franz Ferdinand and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Scaffolders seem to enjoy more mellow love songs as The Night We Met by Lord Huron came out on top of the playlist, with See You Again by Tyler, The Creator in second place.
According to the research, plumbers enjoy listening to Slumber Party by Asknikko, followed by Nelly Furtado’s Promiscuous and Kenrick Lamar’s Money Trees.

When it comes to the top 10 for all 14 of the trades combined, the most popular songs are as follows:

3. Back In Black – AC/DC
4. Thunderstruck – AC/DC
5. Come As You Are – Nirvana
6. Fortunate Son – Creedence Clearwater Revival
7. Go Your Own Way – Fleetwood Mac
8. Californication – Red Hot Chili Peppers
9. Under the Bridge – Red Hot Chili Peppers
10. Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd
A spokesperson for Toolbox by Admiral commented on the research: ‘There’s a whole symphony of reasons tradespeople and other workers enjoy listening to tunes while they’re on the clock.
‘Research shows that the limbic system, which is involved in processing emotions and memory, lights up when our ears perceive music.
‘This makes music a fantastic stress-buster, but in the most basic sense, it can also help muffle out annoying background noise, allowing you to focus on the task at hand.’
Adding: ‘However, it’s worth noting that although there are countless benefits of listening to music at work, it can come with health and safety concerns, so make sure to listen at sensible volumes, be mindful of tripping hazards, keep electrics away from water and consider music licensing laws when listening to music at work.’
