A video of a woman picking up a wallet in the street has split the internet – after it turned out to be a "cruel" promotion.

In the brief clip shared to Twitter, now X, you can see a person walk to pick up what looks like a wallet containing Euro notes as large as €100.

But when they get closer they realise it’s a clever and sneaky advert designed to trick people.

The ‘wallet’ unfolds to reveal a pizza menu for a local store.

More than 9million people have watched the video, and the response to the original post is a total mixed bag.

Some claim the marketing by the pizza brand is “genius” and “clever” while others have dubbed it “cruel” and nothing more than “littering”.

One person described it as a “Next-level advertisement”.

“The ad that someone will definitely pick AND remember”, agreed another.

A third commented: “This is marketing at its finest. Genius.” Another argued: “That is more like wickedness.”

“I’d be so salty lmaoooooo,” agreed one user.

Said a third: “Lol I would be upset.”

“Imagine how many people fell for this,” another user commented.

It is not known what country the poster was found in, or where the shop, believed to be named ‘Crust’.

This isn’t the first time a hilarious advert has gone viral on the internet.

Recently the Daily Star reported how a model is making £1million a year by selling sexy snaps with the help of her billboard advert.

Emma Burge, also known by her OnlyFans name of Eliza Rose Watson, battled a debilitating drug addiction in the past.

And to draw the most attention to her page as possible, she recently paid to advertise her racy page on billboards around London.

Emma paid £18,000 to broadcast her sexy job to the public – a move that proved controversial to some.

But the billboards definitely did their job as she's now making around £100,000 a month.
