Lydia Sear, from London, filmed the clever hack in a viral TikTok video which demonstrates the easy fix to keep your home warm this winter amid the cost of living crisis.

The video has racked up nearly 213, 000 views and received more than 6,000 likes on her TikTok account @lydsear.

The painter and designer captioned the informative clip: ‘Its the small changes that count! #fyp #costofliving #costoflivingcrisis #costoflivingcrisisuk #heating #energybills #liztruss’

‘PSA: The gaps in your floorboards can easily let heat out and therefore cost you more to keep your home warm, this is a super easy and cheap way to fix that’, she wrote over her video.

In the comments section she explained: ‘Got it from Amazon, called DraftEx— they have a few different lengths and width. It does come with a roller but I found it unnecessary/obsolete.’

Someone commented: ‘That’s actually not a bad idea. I’d be mindful that your cavity has ventilation underneath but apart from that, great idea!’

Lydia replied: ‘Totally, we’re fine and I’m only filling the large ones where I can feel the cool air. Defo something to look out for though!’

Another said: ‘You’ve reminded me I need to do this!! Where did you get the filler from?’

Lyd replied: ‘Amazon! Called GraftEx’

While someone else said: ‘I have this problem and was looking for a solution but couldn’t find anything. Thank you’

Another warned: ‘just don’t pack them too tight… wood expands in humid conditions.’

However Lydia revealed that the products is made of foam so it can ‘expand and shrink in place.’

DraftEx costs less than £10 and fitting process is extremely quick and easy and it is available in 3 sizes, thin, standard and thick.

Draughts in your floorboards could result in significant heat loss and unnecessarily high heating and energy costs during the winter months.

Therefore, it is a sensible way to avoid any heat escaping from your rooms.

Many people rushed to the comments section to ask where she got the DraftEx from and to comment on the clever trick
