Recently, the college student took to the video-sharing platform to share her terrifying experience after forgetting to deep clean her water bottle

She captioned the clip: ‘PSA to fellow Owala girlies to take out the silicone piece.’

‘Hey, this is a PSA to anyone who owns an Owala… I got sick in August… I had a cold that [was] minor, you know? Lasted a week and then didn’t go away. Went to urgent care: bronchitis,’ she said.

Kae explained that the doctors gave her an inhaler and antibiotics, and after three weeks, she was finally felt better.

However, three weeks later she got sick once again. This time with a sinus infection.

She obtained more antibiotics from urgent care.

‘I had maybe a week and a half where I was, like, healthy, and felt great, and didn’t have any illness. And then I get sick again,’ she explained.

Then, Kae contracted a sore throat and finally discovered the reason behind her illnesses.

She explained: ‘While I’m on antibiotics for the sore throat, I decide, “Hey, I’m going to clean my water bottle.” This is where it goes downhill. I’m cleaning it, doing all the normal things.

‘First of all, I know I don’t clean it as much as I should. No one does. I know it’s full of bacteria.’

After searching the web for instructions on how to clean her water bottle, she realized there was a silicone piece she was forgetting to scrub.

She said: ‘Everyone’s like, “remove it.”  Covered in mold. Covered in mold.

‘It even embedded itself into the silicone. Of course, I immediately order replacements on Amazon. So, I didn’t know it came out, so I’m horrified, of course. Once I cleaned it, got better. Haven’t been sick since.

‘I had mold poisoning from my water bottle. So this is a PSA to anyone who owns one of these things.’

People flooded the comments section and expressed their shock while others shared their own experiences.
