Judging by the content on our social feeds it might feel like the world is overrun by influencers but imagine living in a city full of them.
An Indian village in the city of Raipur has become famous for its online content, with 40 Youtube channels and around 1,000 of its 3,000 inhabitants engaged in content creation.
Tulsi, a village in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh has earned the name ‘India’s YouTube village’ because of its residents exploits.
According to footage from Tuesday, villagers are seen filming residents riding on tractors, as well as children racing in the streets. Some use drones to capture the footage, while larger sketches and shows feature many of the locals performing or helping with the technical side.

‘As you can see everywhere in our village, people of all ages are artists and make videos for YouTube. So everyone calls our village a “YouTube village”,’ said one local enthusiast, Chetan Nayak.
‘Many of them have their own YouTube channels. On the YouTube channels, we are making comedy videos, song-based programmes, and race videos. Almost all kinds of artists are here’, explained another Youtuber, Aditya Vaghil.
Many residents now work on the content full-time, while some claim to earn two or three times their previous salary. The youngest Youtuber is 15-years-old, while the oldest is an 85-year-old grandmother.
