Annoying iPhone call answering ‘glitch’ mystery finally solved by TikTok techie

For years, iPhone users have been perplexed by the fact there is two different call screens for the iPhone.

Sometimes, a call will appear at the top of the screen with an 'Accept' and 'Decline' button.

However, it will also show up with a slide-to-unlock style answering feature.

Although there's seemingly neither rhyme nor reason to this odd design choice, TikTok user Makhirtech has taken to his channel to share his thoughts on the feature.

While he says 'it can be quite annoying when you want to decline a call but don't have the option to', Makhirtech believes there is a very good—and simple—reason for it.

Firstly, the 'accept' and 'decline' option only appears when your phone is unlocked, so all you have to do is press a button to answer it. Then, when your screen is locked, that's when the 'slide' answering system appears.

Makhirtech says in his video: "If the internet is to be believed, it's because if your phone is locked it's likely to be in your pocket so they don't want you to press any accidental buttons, 'cos the question always used to bother me."

Although it seems like there's no option to decline a call when the Slide to Unlock screen appears, you can actually tap the iPhone's power button once to stop it ringing immediately and double tap it to decline the call.
