Apple users can now save £2 per month on their Netflix bill using discount perk

If you use Apple TV then we've got some great news for you: you can now save £2 per month on your Netflix bill.

That's because Netflix has finally made its £4.99 monthly subscription tier available to users of Apple's set-top box.

The Netflix 'Basic with Ads' membership was made available in the UK last year, and lets you watch all of Netflix's shows and movies for less—if you're happy to sit through the odd advert.

However, while it worked on most other devices, Apple TV users weren't able to take advantage of it until now.

Even if they signed up for it, Apple users weren't able to access the ad-supported option on their device—leading to countless unhappy UK customers.

Now, they're able to use the cheaper Netflix option. However, it's worth noting that it can only play videos in 720p video quality, and you won't be able to see anything in 4K HDR unless you sign up for the more expensive option.

Netflix previously warned users about the limitation on its website, and is continuing to roll out the ad tier to users of other platforms.

The streaming giant said: "A small percentage of devices that can play on ad-free Netflix plans can't be used with an ad-supported Netflix plan.

"This is because either the Netflix app or software on the device can't be updated to a version that supports ads."

So, if you're getting ready to make a saving, make sure you update your AppleTV system software as well as the Netflix app to ensure you can get the most out of this discount subscription tier.
