Black Friday deals on Apple products and when it’s best to bag a tech bargain

Over the years Black Friday has become one of the nation's biggest sale events on the shopping calendar.

Each year, crowds will gather in shopping centres while others choose to queue online to grab the best bargains.

In the US, Black Friday takes place the day after Thanksgiving, when turkey-stuffed customers take advantage of the holiday to do some some shopping.

Thanks to American retailers like Amazon and WalMart-owned Asda, the shopping bonanza has now spread across the pond – and around the world.

But will tech giant Apple take part in the Black Friday sales this year and when is the best time to bag a bargain on Apple products?

Here's everything you need to know.

Does Apple take part in the Black Friday sales?

Yes and no. While the tech giant does take part in Black Friday, it doesn't offer big discounts on its devices like other retailers.

Instead, Apple usually offers free store gift cards on selected products.

This year's products are yet to be announced, however, in 2021 the following items were included:

  • £120 with MacBook Pro
  • £80 with iPad Pro and iPad Mini
  • £40 with iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone XR
  • £20 with Apple Watch Series 3
  • £20 with AirPods Pro.

These gift cards can only be used in Apple Stores and you can find your nearest shop here.

When is the best time to bag a deal on Apple products?

Although Apple may not directly take part in Black Friday, third party retailers that sell Apple products will be taking part in the huge sales this year.

The likes of Amazon, Currys and John Lewis take part in the annual Black Friday sales with big discounts on iPhones, AirPods and MacBooks.

As Black Friday takes place on November 25 this year, we could expect to see retailers launching their sales days – or even weeks – before the event itself.

In the run up to Black Friday, Amazon has announced its Prime Early Access Sale, with huge discounts on Apple products.

However, you'll need to act fast as the sale ends tonight (October 12).

If you manage to catch the sale before it ends here's some of the biggest deals:

  • 2020 Apple iMac with Retina 5K display (27-inch) – was £1,999, now £1,624

  • Apple Watch Series 7 (GPS + Cellular, 45mm) – was £649.99, now £579.99

  • Apple iPhone 13 Pro (512GB) in Gold – was £1,249, now £1,059

Make sure to keep an eye on Amazon and other retailers in the run-up to Black Friday to ensure you bag the best deals before Christmas.

This article will be updated in due course when the Black Friday sales go live.
