With the most expensive NFT collection ever selling for £82million this year, your little slice of lettuce could one day be worth a fortune.

The wig-wearing Daily Star lettuce undoubtedly captured hearts and minds around the world as Liz Truss' disastrous 44-day stint in office came crashing to a halt. Tens of thousands of people were glued to the Daily Star's livestream to see who would wilt first.

On the eve of its victory over outgoing Prime Minister Liz Truss, the lettuce said: "I came into office at a time of great e-kale-nomic instability but after an unbe-leaf-able campaign, I am thrilled to have been crowned victorious in these chard times."

    “However, we must romaine cautious.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg.

“Cos many people might think I am a little green, but truly I believe that I could be this country’s little gem!"

    What is an NFT?

Created in 2014, an NFT (non-fungible token) is a unique, non-interchangeable piece of data designed to prevent the replication of everything online.

They're a great way to preserve original copies of digital artworks thanks to their unique identifying codes, with each NFT having a certified, traceable owner. NFTs are a popular way to trade and collect everything from memes, art, videogames, trading cards and even music.

In this case, lucky winners of a Lizzie Lettuce NFT can feel safe in the knowledge that your digital lettuce is truly your own, free to trade, sell or keep as you wish.

Still not sure what an NFT even is? You can find out more information on our FAQ page here, or join in and ask questions of our team on our Discord community chat group here.
