EE, the British telecom giant is getting into the home security and cybersecurity game.
On Wednesday, the company announced two services EE Smart Home Security and EE Cyber Security to protect your home and online lives.
EE is collaborating with Verisure – owner of Arlo cameras – to offer a service aimed at making a 24/7 monitored home security alarm system for UK homes.
There will be two packages available – one for flats and the other for houses. Both services will be installed by a Verisure security engineer and comes with professional monitoring 24/7 by Verisure’s Alarm Receiving Centre, with a target response time of 60 seconds.
The service comes at a time when research reveals that over 12.7 million UK consumers plan to take up a smart home security product in the future. Of those, a majority (56%) revealed that being able to access the latest home security technology via monthly payments would make it more appealing to them.
Available to purchase via EE’s web site, the service consists of monthly payments and an upfront cost of £50.
The service allows customers to speak to the Alarm Centre at any time through the SOS feature and is backed up by EE, so customers can monitor their home from anywhere, the My Verisure app.
EE Smart Home Security, powered by Verisure is available in two core packages – one for flats and one for houses, with those choosing houses also able to benefit from add-ons, including the latest security cameras from smart home security specialists, Arlo Europe, part of Verisure.
The telecom company has also launched Cyber Security in collaboration with Norton to offer customers protection against viruses and other online threats.
It also notifies customers if their personal information is found on the dark web or if their account on popular social media sites has unusual login activity.
Available initially exclusively to EE mobile customers in November 2022, more details on packages and features will be announced in the coming weeks.
