Facebook dark mode: How to enable night mode on Facebook Messenger

Dark mode is the aesthetically pleasing option for inverting colours on your device’s screen. And dark mode not only looks good – it is also easier on the eyes at night and can save battery life. The look is becoming an increasing-popular option, with Facebook Messenger joining apps including Google Calendar and Firefox for iOS incorporating the dark mode look.

Facebook Messenger is the second most popular messaging app in the world.

With 1.3 billion monthly active users, Facebook Messenger is second only to WhatsApp, with 1.6 billion users.

Some users may be unaware a dark mode option is already available for Facebook Messenger on Apple iOS and Android.

The dark mode setting can currently be unlocked simply sending a crescent moon emoji.

Once users send the emoji you will be prompted to enable dark mode.

The Twitter dark mode is very aesthetically pleasing.

Dark mode can be activated by heading to the Settings section of the app, then selecting Display and sound and turning on Dark Mode.

There is also an option to for dark mode to automatically turn on at night, and then deactivate in the morning.

To enable Reddit’s dark mode, simply slide out the menu from the left side of the screen, tap Settings then turn Night mode on.

Users can now adapt just how dark the colours are by selecting Night theme and selecting their personal preference.

Reading books on a light background at night is tough on the eyes, meaning the Apple Books app offers different colour options, including dark mode.

When reading a book, select the “Aa” icon, then choose the colour to the screen’s far right.

Users can also adjust the brightness, or enable automatic Night theme if they prefer to let their Apple device to handle it for them.

The Kindle reading app naturally boasts a similar dark mode feature.

When reading a book, tap on the screen to display the various buttons.

Select the “Aa” button, then Black at the base of the screen.
